GENERAL MANAGER MESSAGE TO OUR VALUED CLIENTS
The Greater Fort Lauderdale Broward County Convention Center has been the home to numerous meetings and countless events over the past twenty-eight years. I have had the pleasure of meeting so many meeting professionals and welcoming back repeat clients. After welcoming over 6 million+ guests to the Center over the years, I often think about all the learning, growth and fun that has taken place in our building over the years.
It is with great excitement that I share with my fellow meeting professionals some exciting news about the future of the Convention Center. In a few short years, our building will more than double in size and a Headquarters Hotel will be added onsite. Broward County and the GFLCVB are excited to be South Florida’s premiere meeting destination and are expanding to meet the demand for larger event space, with over 800 hotel rooms onsite.
We have appreciated all the input, recommendations and suggestions that our valued clients have made over the years to upgrade our facility. Your requests have been heard and when we reopen our doors after construction, meeting planners can expect an additional 350,000 sf of contiguous exhibition space, the latest in industry technology, innovative dining concepts, waterfront event space, enhanced parking garage access and more.
Over my tenure at the Center, I have been most proud of our service and the value we offer. Our team takes great pride in providing the best experience to our clients and guests. We appreciate the relationships that have developed with some of the top professionals in the industry and we are looking forward to continuing the tradition of service and value, in addition to becoming a bigger and more sophisticated Convention Center.
The destination of Greater Fort Lauderdale too is transforming into the perfect location to mix business with pleasure. The Convention District is conveniently located within 5 miles of blue water beaches, downtown, restaurants, shopping, nightlife, attractions, airport and seaport. It is exciting to watch the transformation and growth, into the Convention District of the future.
Thank you to our valued clients for your business and loyalty over the years. We look forward to exceeding your expectations when you return to the new and improved Convention Center of the future when you return to Greater Fort Lauderdale for your next visit
Multiple events will be held at the Broward County Convention Center, as well neighboring events, and up to 6 cruises in-port. Expect heavier traffic throughout the weekend causing possible delays along Fort Lauderdale’s S.E. 17th Street corridor and the surrounding area.
The premier event, set for September 25-27, 2019 at the Ft. Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center, brings together more than 500 Florida CPAs from around the state and vendors that offer real-world business solutions.
The City of Fort Lauderdale has declared a state of emergency due to a water main break near the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. The water supply to the city has been shut off for repair, affecting the Broward County Convention Center. It is estimated to take 24-hours to restore the water main line.
