The Greater Fort Lauderdale Broward County Convention Center, an SMG managed facility, is showing its commitment to preservation of the environment, reduction of costs and health and well-being of our employees and customers by hiring Sustainable Options, LLC, Green Building Consultants, to register our facility with the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) under its “Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) for Existing Buildings certification.

 

Through this LEED EBOM Certification Process (LEADERSHIP IN ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN EXISITNG BUILDING OPERATION & MAINTENANCE) THE GREATER FORT LAUDERDALE BROWARD COUNTY CONVENTION CENTER (BCCC) has instituted sustainable practices that will become the cornerstone of its operation and planning of “green” meetings and events that will ensure long-term benefit to its customers, partners and the community.

Energy Conservation

Supporting renewable energy by purchasing Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) for off-site renewable wind energy systems. Through this program, the facility is “100% carbon neutral”. Our commitment has a similar impact to plating of 85,276 matures trees, OR not driving 21,145,089 miles over two year period.
