Broward County, the Greater FortLauderdale Convention Center and the Visitor’s Bureau are excited to announce the expansion of the Broward Convention Center and the addition of a new Headquarters Hotel.
The 600,000 SF Broward ConventionCenter will almost double in size once the project is completed. The Exhibit Hall will be extended 150,000 SF, to create 350,000 SF of contiguous exhibit space. In addition, a new 65,000 SF ballroom will face the Intracoastal Waterway. The new venue will also include 50,000 SF of flexible meeting space to accommodate multiple events or convenient break-outs. The upgrade will feature forward-thinking technologies, innovative dining concepts and versatile pre-function space, with modern décor that complements Greater Fort Lauderdale’s waterfront destination. Convenient skywalks will connect to event space, hotel and parking structure.
The proposed 29-story, Broward County owned hotel will be managed by Omni Hotels & Resorts. The hotel will add more than 73,000 SF of meeting space, as well as a 11,000 SF Spa and Fitness Center. It will be prominently positioned on the destination’s famed Intracoastal Waterway with a view of the Atlantic Ocean.
The Convention Center Expansion and Headquarters Hotel Projects, both of which will be Gold LEED certified, will be the centerpiece of a Convention Center district enhancement project. The entertainment district will include outdoor event space, dining, shopping and programming. Guests can enjoy the waterfront pedestrian walk and travel to other parts of the destination by boat or Water Taxi. The prime location is within a five-mile radius of Broward Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Port Everglades, dining, shopping and famed 23 miles of blue wave beaches.
